Dhanteras falls on the thirteenth day of the Hindu month of Kartik. It is also known as “Dhanatrayodashi”People cleaning and making new things, they worship goddess Lakshmi for their health & wealth of suffering and disease. Dhanteras is celebrated by Hindus who consider it an auspicious day for the purchase of ornaments for household , people buying gold and silver jewelry, coins, and other valuable items, bring good luck and prosperity. Children’s are excited look forward to Dhanteras as they get new toys and clothes. markets & houses decorate with lights and diyas to welcome Goddess Lakshmi .Dhanteras is not just about shopping buying new things.
